Draft — pending legal review
This text describes how Furnished Habitat intends to operate, but it has not yet been reviewed by counsel and is not the final agreement. Do not rely on it as legal advice.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you give us, information generated as you use the platform, and information from the providers we rely on to operate it.
- Account information: name, email address, password (stored only as a hash), and profile details you choose to add.
- Booking information: the stays you search for, request, and complete, along with the messages you exchange with your host or guest.
- Payment information: processed by our payment provider. We receive confirmation and the last four digits of a card, never the full number.
- Host verification information: identity documents you submit are handled by our identity verification provider; we receive the outcome, not the underlying documents.
- Property information: for hosts, the address and details of the properties you list. Exact street addresses are never shown publicly.
- Technical information: IP address, device and browser details, and pages viewed, used to keep the platform secure and working.
2. Why we use it
We use personal information to operate the marketplace: to create and secure your account, to show you relevant listings, to process bookings and payments, to enable you to message the other party to a booking, to verify host identity, to prevent fraud and abuse, to meet legal and tax obligations, and to provide support.
We send transactional messages about your bookings and account. Marketing messages are separate and you can opt out of them at any time from your notification settings.
4. How long we keep it
We keep account and booking records for as long as your account is open, and afterwards for as long as we need them to meet tax, accounting, and legal obligations or to resolve a dispute. Records we no longer need are deleted or anonymised.
5. Your choices
You can view and update your profile at any time from your account settings, and manage which notifications you receive. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to request a copy of your personal information, to correct it, to delete it, or to object to certain processing. You can submit these requests from your privacy settings.
6. Security
We protect information in transit and at rest, restrict internal access to those who need it, and log administrative access to user records. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
7. Children
The platform is not intended for anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes and contact
We will post any revision here with a new version and effective date, and will tell you directly if a change materially affects you. Privacy questions can be sent to our support team from the Support page.
